Summer Camp

Voyagers Summer Camp is all about exploring the world around us and learning about people, places, and things that many of us have only seen on TV or in books. Voyagers (campers) have the flexibility to select from a variety of exciting topics that will take them on incredible journeys to far-off destinations where they will learn about people such as Louis Armstrong, places like the Great Wall of China, and things such as the Eiffel Tower!

Toddler Montessori Program

The Montessori method is based upon the observations and discoveries of the first female Italian physician, Dr. Maria Montessori. Her philosophy nurtures the joy of learning in children at an early age, providing a framework in which intellectual and social disciplines coexist. She believed that education is a lifelong process, and it should be an aid to life. Her philosophy was that children learn at their own pace and develop according to their own timetable. Their physical, emotional, psychic, and intellectual abilities are interrelated. Children must have freedom, within clearly defined limits, to develop their full potential. Based on this philosophy, Creative Playrooms Montessori Program provides children with a prepared learning environment that helps them think, organize, and observe. The teacher functions as a guide, aiding children in their choice of developmentally appropriate learning materials. This environment, along with the teacher’s role, distinguishes the Montessori Programs from other educational approaches. Our program encourages self-directed learning where the child is free to explore and discover, allowing them to experience the joy of learning and promoting the development of self-esteem. 2-Year-Olds

At Ivybrook Academy, we understand that the age of two is a time of wonder and rapid growth. Our half-day program is thoughtfully designed to nurture your child’s natural curiosity, support their developmental milestones, and foster a love for learning. Through hands-on activities, interactive play, and a compassionate environment, we guide your child on their journey of exploration and self-discovery.

3-Year-Olds

At Ivybrook Academy, we celebrate the natural curiosity and energy of three-year-olds by providing an environment that fosters exploration, creativity, and foundational learning. Our half-day program is thoughtfully crafted to balance academic growth with imaginative play, empowering your child to build confidence and develop critical skills during this transformative stage of early childhood.

Preschool

In the pre-school program, children are consistently exposed to new ideas. Pre-school is a time of new boundaries and explorations, and our classrooms are set up to reflect that. Each classroom is sectioned into learning centers that the children are able to visit both independently and with teacher guidance. The entire day is based on balance: loud activities, then quiet; individual instruction, then group games; left-brained then right-brained activities. Our curriculum continues with review of the shapes, letters, numbers and colors. More handwriting practice is done working with writing independently in addition to tracing. Animals are now part of a larger science unit that include daily science lessons and more discovery experiences. *PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer weekend or overnight care.*

Pre-kindergarten is the year of preparation before kindergarten. Our goal is to ensure that every child who completes our pre-kindergarten program is greatly prepared for kindergarten, and this will translate into a life-long love of learning and education. The pre-kindergarten program extends all of the concepts introduced in our pre-school program to a higher level. A sampling of our goals for our pre-kindergarten children is recognition of at least 50 sight words; knowledge of letter sounds; rhyming and word patterning; counting to 100 by ones, fives and tens; addition and subtraction through toys; awareness of the world around them and social difference; the knowledge of the scientific process; and the ability to attempt to solve problems without teacher aid. The children continue with computers and Spanish, in addition to participating in an instrumental music program. *PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer weekend or overnight care.*
