My children have been enrolled at the Barrett Parkway KinderCare for several years and I've always thought the care they were given from the teachers and staff has been exceptional until this past Tuesday during the Atlanta snow storm. The staff's exceptional service and dedication to the students went beyond words. They were so caring and loving toward my kids, all the kids, during the snow storm. My son was on the KinderCare bus between his elementary school and the center for more than 2 1/2 hours. After what seemed like an eternity for a Mother waiting for her son's safe arrival, two of the staff, myself and another parent got dressed as warm as we could, grabbed as many extra scarfs, hats and gloves and headed out into the snow storm to rescue the kids and the bus driver off the bus. I cannot tell you how impressive their dedication and determination in getting everyone back to the center safely and reunited with their parents was. And, while I was waiting for my son, I watched the staff start to call each parent to let them know they were closing the center early due to weather conditions. And, in order to keep the KinderCare phone lines open to receive calls from worried parents, they made those calls on the their personal cell phones. At certain points, the staff had a phone to each ear. Hats off to Carla Bentley and her team for a remarkable job well done! I especially want to recognize the following people: Carla Bentley- she took into consideration her staff, parents and students when making caring decisions for their safe return home. Amanda- She loaned her own stroller to another parent to help him get his child home safely and was one of the staff who walked to the bus to get the kids back to the center safely. Ms.Elizabeth- She also was taking calls and making calls to parents on her personal cell phone while checking on kids and make the trek to get the kids off the bus. Ms. Awilda- She was taking calls in each ear, checking on kids and wound up staying at the center all night till some stranded parents were able to get their kids. Ms. Katelyn- She was organizing the after affects of the storm, getting the stranded bus, checking in with me personally to make sure we got home okay and letting me know when the center was reopening. Ms. Gloria- For keeping the little ones busy during the snow storm while the parents were trying to reach them. Mr. Louis- He was another bus driver stuck out in the snow storm for several hours getting the kids back to the center safely. Ms. Sara- I saved the best for last. Ms. Sara was the bus driver for my son's bus. She was so great in keeping the kids calm. My son said she kept telling me not to worry. All the while worrying about her own son on another bus on it's way back to the center. She is always a very calm and caring teacher and one that I'm thankful was there for my son. Thank you to all the staff and teachers at KinderCare. They deserve a metal for their exceptional work and great attitudes during a very stressful time.
Our family recently relocated to Marietta. Due to the move, we had to leave a center with teachers that we were extremely familiar and comfortable with and were apprehensive to start the process over again. We couldn't be happier we chose KinderCare Barrett Parkway! The teachers are extremely warm and so engaged with our children, ages one and three years old. I never worry about their well being while I'm at work, which is a huge relief. The Director is intimately involved with each classroom and every child and it is clear that the enrichment and nurturing of children is her top priority. We are amazed by what our three-year-old has achieved in just six months time, she's already sounding out words! My one-year-old rarely lets me out of her sight, but when she sees her teacher, she reaches out for her and never cries when I leave; that should say it all about this center. Thank you Barrett Parkway KinderCare!
