Parent Reviews
In a word, Dawn is great, and One in a Million will always be an important place for our son (during a critical time during his development) where he was cared for in a nurturing way that allowed him to be himself while also keeping him safe, well fed and busy with age appropriate activities. Our son is cute and fun , but he's also super active and A LOT to keep up with, and Dawn did a wonderful job. She tirelessly forges through each day of juggling needy babies and toddlers while maintaining her grace, sense of humor and kindness. She genuinely cares about our son (and the rest of his daycare pod), and is a great communicator. We rarely had any issues to navigate ,but when communication was needed to handle the occasional illness, late pickup, possible allergy etc, Dawn was always responsive, compassionate, flexible and accommodating. Unlike other daycare providers and nannies we've encountered, her policies and the way that she aligns these with the care she provides are grounded in common sense and extensive experience. We spoke to several great references Dawn was happy to provide before enrolling our son and would encourage you to do the same if you have any questions. This story probably speaks louder than anything else we could say... When my wife at home this weekend asked our son in jest "who loves you?", expecting a quick smiley "mommy!" answer, he instead thought for a moment and said sincerely "oh, um- Dawn." :)
Dawn's daycare has become a second home to our LO. Having just moved to SF from Germany, we were looking for a safe and playful space for our 10-month old, for a caregiver we could trust. We found Dawn through word of mouth, and during our visit, she exuded calm confidence and unassuming authenticity. Being able to feel her decades of experience gave us courage at an otherwise overwhelming time. A year later, we have gotten to know Dawn as a warm-hearted, empathetic, and reliable human being, someone who genuinely cares about each child. She enjoys and encourages each kid's unique personality and makes room for their characters and individual needs and schedules. Dawn turns a diverse group of 2-5 kids of different ages, backgrounds, and languages into a tight-knit group of friends. She creates an environment that encourages independent play, learning from each other, tolerance, and empathy. Again and again, we are particularly impressed by the calm, fair, and pragmatic way Dawn handles conflicts. Her natural authority, devoid of harshness and dogmatism, is a testament to the trusting relationships she fosters. Dawn has handled the COVID pandemic diligently, pragmatically, and graciously. She has turned health measures into little games, and the whole group's health has been exceptional. We are truly grateful for having found this gem and warmly recommend Dawn to parents looking for a daycare that feels like a home and a caregiver they can trust. It is well worth the (for us longer) commute.
