Parent Reviews
We love Irvington Preschool! Teacher Sam has a special way of relating to the kids and is very effective at teaching through play. I notice the way she lets the kids discover things and figure them out for themselves instead of giving them the answer. We appreciate her laid back approach and how much freedom and autonomy the children are given. The kids almost always seem to rise to the occasion and are capable of far more than I might of thought. We have found the community of parents at this school welcoming, supportive, and very down to earth. At first I was a little turned off by the appearance of the school, especially the outdoor area. But over time I grew to understand that that is what free play really looks like! And I would much rather the kids have dirt to dig in and lumber to build with here than at my house! :) Overall, I couldn’t recommend this program highly enough. We are so lucky to be apart of it.
Irvington Preschool is great and we feel lucky to have had Teacher Sam's time and attention for our boys during the last couple years. Sam is very talented at teaching and developing kids rather than just controlling kids. The classroom is set up and run in a way that makes sense for kids that are learning, with lots of space and flexibility to explore, experiment, and make mistakes, as well as learning how to respond to and repair the outcomes of their mistakes. The community at Irvington is also very welcoming and tight knit. We have been to the houses of almost every other student in the school, as well as engaged in book clubs and other extracurricular outings with a number of other parents from the school. 10/10 - would recommend.
We've been here for two years and are extremely pleased with the experience. Teacher Sam is one in a million and the school is so lucky to have her. Volunteering and fundraising is a great way to get to know the other parents and build community. We'll be sending our other two kids here as well!
