Parent Reviews
My son just graduated from Panda Garden (3yo) and we were so sad to leave! He is currently at a new preschool and keeps telling us how much he misses his "old school". He started at 14 months old and as first time parents, my husband and I were more nervous than he was. He was a little hesitant the first few days of drop off but after that he kept saying "school" and was so excited to go! The owner, Michelle, and her staff took such good care of our son and treated him like their own family. They provide home cooked meals (breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack), help with potty training, and keep us updated on everything he did at school. Our son also can now speak Mandarin fluently! I speak Mandarin as well but he comes home saying phrases that I don't even know which is so impressive to us! Sending him to Panda Garden was honestly the best decision we've made and cannot recommend them enough! If we do have a second child, he/she will also definitely be attending Panda Garden as soon as he/she can start! Thank you so much again Michelle and staff for the best daycare experience for our son and us as parents!!
Our daughter was at Panda Garden from when she was 1.5 years old until she was three and a half, just under two years. We were very happy with the experience. And we would certainly recommend the place to friends. The school gives frequent updates about what the kids are doing and how they are doing (through daily pictures, notes a couple times a week, and regular parent-teacher conferences). Michelle in particular always seemed to be genuinely concerned about the well-being of the kids, and was always responsive to concerns raised by parents, as well as just being very responsive to any notes, requests, etc. The kids get plenty of play time outside, and follow a curriculum that was shared with the parents each week. The kids are young, so it's not super-academic, but would center around certain concepts the kids would be learning each week that would be reinforced through their activities. We are very grateful for our daughter's time there!
There are so much wonderful things to say about Panda Garden. I was initially nervous sending my son off to daycare when he was two years old, but meeting Michelle gave me so much assurance that he would be in good hands. Now that he’s been there for over a year, I want to highlight a handful of things on why this daycare is so great: 1) Safety – Out of all the stories I’ve exchanged with friends, by far this school is so much more diligent on keeping the kids safe and heathy. I receive prompt messages if there is a potential illness or if my son had a little accident. Michelle and the teachers are very engaged and attentive with the kids. 2) Caring – My son comes home talking about Michelle and the other teachers. He asks where they are from time to time. This reflects the close relationship he has developed under their care. It’s very sweet the special things they do for birthdays and holidays. 3) Development – My son went in with little social skills to being able to play with others, share toys, listen, calm down if frustrated, express his needs and of course, learn lots of mandarin! I’m so proud to see him interact with others and to watch him continue to grow. 4) Coaching – This is more for me and my husband. We can count on Michelle for helpful advice at times when we struggle. Like how did you get him to nap for two hours so easily! Haha 5) Fun – Last but not least, making sure our son is happy in the 9 hours he is there. Through the daycare app, I get to view pictures and videos of the different activities he gets to do. He is exposed to so many different toys, stories, songs, and fun activities both inside the daycare and outside at the park. Each week there is a curriculum outlining different themes / focus areas combined with books, songs, activities, and mandarin words. My son is graduating soon and I’m sad to see him leave. However, he has grown so much going to Panda Garden that I know he will blossom in the new school. Thank you so much Michelle and the teachers!
Panda Garden is undoubtedly one of the best daycare/preschools in the city that you can trust. This is especially true during the tough pandemic year, as Michelle and Panda Garden had become like part of our family. Choosing to go to Panda Garden was most definitely the best decision we made. Our son started at Panda Garden when he was almost 2 years old, and enjoyed a very happy 2 years at the school. What attracted us was the good student-to-teacher ratio (4 teachers to 12 kids during normal times and 3 to 8 during Covid), super clean environment (teachers seems to always be sanitizing!), spacious classrooms, huge backyard, family made meals by Grandma, and many activities led by external instructors that you might only find in large preschools. During normal times, you could expect to see your children play soccer (external teacher), music and dance (external teacher), arts and crafts, play with transportation vehicles in a huge sandbox in the backyard, field trips to the library, field trips to the pumpkin patch during Halloween, and traditional Chinese cultural celebrations. During Chinese New Year, there was a picture day, where all kids wore cute traditional Chinese costumes, all prepared by Michelle. One thing to note: our son takes a long time to transition to new environments, and in the first couple of months, Michelle dedicated extra care to help him adjust. Educationally, Michelle is very organized and sends out a monthly lesson plan. Every month, they have different themes tied to the season. For example, they experiment with growing garlic, learn about trees and leaves during Fall, playing with flour and play-doh, and watering plants in the outdoor garden. They learn shapes, colors and numbers. Your children will also develop their Mandarin conversational skills and learn to recognize Chinese characters. Behaviorally, our son learned to share and take turns, learned to wash hands, and successfully potty trained with tremendous help from Michelle. Michelle also assisted us in our decision for the next school. She was very observant and really knew our son's personality, and was very open in offering suggestions as to what environment our son would thrive in. She did not hold back in discussing our son's strengths and weaknesses, and offered great help in our application. We are sentimental that we will be graduating from Panda Garden this Fall, but also happy at the same time that our son will be joining CAIS. When we talked to our son about joining a new school, he was reluctant and said he will miss Michelle, Lily and Yoyo so much. We were so happy we found Panda Garden, and it is definitely in the same league as some of the bigger Mandarin preschools. Michelle and her team absolutely deserve the 5 stars rating!
Michelle runs a wonderful daycare. She treats all the children as if they were her own. All three of our kids went to her daycare. She potty trained them, taught them Mandarin, and engaged them in all sorts of activities from Yoga to soccer to arts and crafts to music. She brings them to the local library and playground. She structures it like a preschool with circle time, etc at which time she reads them stories, and exposes them to numbers, letters, and Chinese characters. What she provides for the kids is so much more than just changing diapers and making sure they don't get hurt while you are at work. I highly recommend her daycare for anyone who is looking for a fantastic daycare (and especially if you want Mandarin immersion).
