Parent Reviews
Rainbow Montessori brought back hope to my child who was overwhelmed by a TK program. Candace taught social-emotional and conflict resolution skills - beyond a simple 'be kind' message. She teaches kids to vocalize their feelings to each other. On top of these valuable skills, my child learned writing, reading, math and Spanish without any worksheets and through the Montessori method. I'm so grateful to Candace for helping my child learn to love school and the friends he made at Rainbow Montessori San Francisco. She sees each child as an individual and works to bond with them. This fosters social emotional development and the learning needed for kindergarten readiness. Make the call and meet Candace - you and your child will not regret it!
Dear Shilpa, I am so happy I had the opportunity to have your son in my program. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words about your observations of me as a dedicated teacher of the Montessori Method of Education and your child's experience here at Rainbow Montessori of San Francisco.
Candace Cusack is exceptional in every way. Her thoughtfulness, experience, poise, and deep insight are unparalleled in the preschool community in San Francisco. Both our daughters have gone there and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. She excels at understanding child psychology and applies her decades of training with the utmost care and kindness. We've been in this city for several years and have talked to hundreds of parents over our time here. Rainbow ranks AT or very near the top preschool in the city hands down.
We are very happy with Rainbow Montessori. The program and staff members are fantastic. Ms. Candace, principal and owner is an outstanding Montessori educator. The small community this school provides has also been one of the most fantastic things of being part of. My kid has been so happy and learning so fast. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a Montessori school in the sunset
Our 4 year old son has attended Rainbow for the past year and it has been a fantastic experience. The teachers have exceeded expectations with the kindness and care they show to the children as well as the joy they find in fostering creativity and independence. As with many young kids during the pandemic, our son was at home during a critical period of preschool development. Rainbow has ensured his growth into a happy, social and confident kid. The facility is situated in a lovely park and as such has extensive outdoor space including some private space for the school itself. Communication with the teaches is easy and we get lots of updates on how he's doing. The school has a wonderful community of parents and caregivers associated with it and many of the families have older children in nearby elementary schools, which is helpful for navigating the next educational steps.
Our 4yo is just wrapping up his first year at Rainbow Montessori and we have been incredibly happy with the program (he will be joined by his 2.5yo brother in the coming year!). It's a small, tight-knit school that strikes a great balance between Montessori curriculum and free play. The teachers go above and beyond to nurture the kids' curiosity and it shows in the things my son talks about, asks about, and teaches me about. I see that other parents have also commented about social/emotional development, empathy, and kindness -- all areas where I see their focus really paying off (and I should mention, speaking of other parents, that it's also a wonderful and friendly parent community, which I have really come to appreciate).
Our son has attended Rainbow Montessori for almost half a year and our family could not be happier with this wonderful school. Our son quickly transitioned to attending Rainbow daily with ease, after not attending any other program before. Candace is so kind and knowledgable and we really appreciate her approach towards social emotional development. We see at social events outside of school that her class is a kind and empathetic group of children. Our son loves the weekly library storytime visits, Spanish lessons and gymnastic classes. He brings home folders of wonderful artwork. We see at home how he is developing problem solving and independent play skills. Rainbow Montessori is a gem in our Parkside neighborhood.
Our daughter (3.5 yo) currently attends Rainbow and her (and ours as parents) experience has been amazing. She started there as a 2.5 yr old and to see her evolve over the past year has been very exciting. Our daughter's daycare experience prior to Rainbow was challenging with every morning drop-off including a struggle to get her to go inside. After the first day at Rainbow, she has enthusiastically run into the school excited to see her friends and work on activities that are in store for her. The ability for her to learn from older students which she has always naturally gravitated to has also been a huge plus. The attention and understanding that head teacher Ms. Candance gives to each individual student has also been amazing and she has also provided us a lot of great advice catered to our daughter. Overall, there's nothing more heartwarming as a parent than when your child comes home excited to talk about what she learned that day and the friends that she played with.
Our son just graduated Rainbow and his experience was phenomenal. We watched him grow and develop from a playful 2.5-year-old to a caring, attentive, empathetic and exuberant 5-year-old. Ms. Candace is a miracle worker in helping kids develop socially in a truly loving and supportive environment, while also teaching a robust Montessori program. Our son well prepared for kindergarten, beyond what is needed (counting into the thousands, a solid foundation of sight reading and phonetics, geography, cultural sensitivity and an ability to name his feelings and ask for help, rather than just acting out of frustration). Rainbow was wonderful for us and our son, who has a great group of friends he’ll keep in touch with, and the confidence to go into elementary school.
