Parent Reviews
We LOVE this school! We first heard about it from some friendly parents at the park and are so glad we signed up! My oldest son went all the way through 2s, 3s, & 4s and my younger son is now in the 3s class (we've been here 4 years now). The community of families here are inclusive, diverse, and now feel like extended family as we help encourage each other in our parenting. Teacher Sara and Teacher Myla have both given me the tools to be a better parent and encouraged me along the way. My children absolutely love being here and love their teachers. We couldn't be happier! During COVID, the teachers have worked so hard to make zoom circle times fun and engaging while giving ideas for extensions at home. We are so grateful, especially now, for the community of parents & the teachers to come along side us as we navigate this strange time. If you're looking for an amazing community, teachers, and friends, this is the place! Once we're back on campus, the school itself is adorable - it's a cute yellow school house with different rooms to play in inside and an incredibly unique outdoor space. It's not like other basic classrooms. We love it and would highly recommend it!
This place really is so much more than a school, it's a huge, wonderful, supportive community and I am grateful that I have found it. All of my children have been in the program at SCPNS- we found it when our oldest child was 3 and we have sent all three of our children here over the years. It's got an incredible philosophy (parent-participation, play-based, child-led) and there is so much quality parenting education and support- it's made me a much better parent. A lot of the advice and techniques I've learned here are now cornerstones of how I raise my children and I have so much gratitude to SCPNS and the wonderful teachers and families for that. COVID has changed a lot in everyone's lives and it's been a struggle figuring out what our own family should do for preschool. We have two kids in elementary school and we weren't sure that attending preschool virtually would make sense or even be possible considering the schedules for the other kids. But right away, once our older kids started their virtual classes, we noticed that our youngest was pretty bummed out not to have her own special class time. We decided to try it out and we are so glad we did. My youngest is excited going to her virtual circle time since she sees her older siblings doing their own virtual learning. Now she gets to be a "big" kid like them and "go" to her class each day and she has already made a connection with her teacher and classmates. Beyond that, they are also sending home fun activity kits each week with supplies. We are loving them so far! Finally, I didn't realize how much I was missing talking to other parents. The school is doing a lot of parent education and they are also doing virtual parent socials and we just did one last week. It was so fun getting on a call with other parents at the school and just talking about how we're getting through the day. SCPNS is a great place during normal times and it's still that way during these COVID times. I am so happy to be a part of it.
My daughter was in the 3's and 4's classes and my son just finished the 2s class. He is coming back to do their distance learning. Based off of orientation this week, it looks like the teachers have put in a lot of work to figure out how to transition to online. Before COVID hit, classes were great onsite. Large play area, lots of messy play (that we don't have to do at home now!) and we all made lots of friends. (mom included!) It has been a beyond amazing experience. The teachers genuinely care about the students AND parents. They do lots of parent education on all kinds of topics we face. We will definitely be sending our younges next year when he is old enough for the 2s program.
My daughter really enjoyed the SCPNS program her first year, we are really excited about starting the 3s class. She is shy by nature but her personality really came out at school, she seems more assertive and made a lot of friends. Socializing was important for her. The teachers are great and passionate about the program, the community is really supportive and I love how the children learn through play!!
Hi Valerie! Thank you so much for your review! SCPNS prides itself on having families who are committed to the parent co-op experience. We all work together to help our children thrive!
