Parent Reviews
We've been so happy sending our kiddo to Sonrisa's for the last year and a half. It's perfect for kiddos who are down to one afternoon nap, as the kids go outside every single morning to different parks and places around the city (including the Alemany Farm regularly). The Spanish immersion aspect is also great — our kid legit knows how to speak Spanish now! The hours are a lifesaver for us, and the price is totally reasonable for SF daycare. Martha is an amazing educator and is well-organized and communicative.
We love Sonrisa's! Our daughter has been with Martha for nearly a year, and she loves all their adventures - Alemany Farms, dozens of local playgrounds/parks, Academy of Sciences, SF Zoo, and more. Martha does an amazing job wearing the kids out each day, and providing delicious breakfasts, lunches and snacks. As parents, we love the hours, and watching our daughter expand her vocabulary and skills every single day. Do not pass up an opportunity to enroll with the Sonrisa's family!
The best daycare in SF. Amazing hours (8:00am - 5:30pm), daily outdoor adventures, all inclusive breakfast, lunch, and snacks are just a few things that make Sonrisa's the best daycare hands down. Our daughter joined a year ago and within a month she went from just starting to walk to running thanks to their daily outdoor play. In her first month, she also doubled her vocabulary with Spanish immersion. A year later we have a strong, talkative toddler and we have Sonrisa's to thank for it!
Trust me, do not pass up the opportunity to have your kiddo enroll with Martha! Our daughter is 5 now and has been with Martha since right after she turned 2. We opted to keep her at Martha's instead of enrolling her in TK because we thought that the development opportunities she was getting with Martha were just as good as what she would be getting by enrolling in school, plus her Spanish fluency increases every day, and she has such a great relationship with Martha. (Seriously... as first-time parents we often find that Martha has taught our kid to do something that it hadn't occurred to us yet to to, like spelling her name, learning to read, and chewing with her mouth closed, haha!) Martha takes the kids out on outdoor adventures EVERY SINGLE DAY. (This is clearly beneficial in a COVID world, but it's actually what Martha has always done with them, even pre-pandemic.) These kids DO NOT spend all day hanging out inside. She really tires them out for you! She also sends pictures and videos all day long so that you always know what they're up to. She has openings right now (Dec 2020)!
Sonrisa's is like a big family! Martha opens her home to the kids and gives them great opportunities for learning and play every day. My daughter has been going there since she turned 1 and is very fluent in Spanish and loves to play with her amigos every day!
Sonrisa's is the best! My son just turned three and has been attending daycare at Sonrisa's since he was 18 months old. I wish he would never have to leave. It's incredible all the opportunities that the kiddos have - hiking in Pacifica, frequent trips to the beach, socially distanced trips to the zoo, lots of art, making food, practicing fine and gross motor skills, dancing, stories, learning through play and being out in the community. Every day is something new. My son has special needs and the fact that Sonrisa's is helping him learn everyday says a lot, because not every daycare would be able to support him in such a loving and nurturing environment. He is constantly challenged but also loved, and I see the growth in him every day.
My son attends Sonrisas and it has an opening (Oct 2017) for a child 18 months or older- whoever gets this spot will be incredibly lucky! After being a stay at home mom for a year, I thought my son's transition to daycare might be difficult. But I was surprised at how quickly he began to love getting dropped off, and how comfortable he is being there. After just a week or two, he had absolutely no issues being separated from me because the woman who runs the daycare, Martha, has created such a wonderful environment. There's no better feeling than being at work and knowing my son is well taken care of, happy, and thriving while at daycare. Martha is so loving and such a fantastic caretaker. She takes them outside for an adventure everyday (different parks, the library, Noe rec center- they have so much fun!), feeds them healthy homemade food, and sings to them all the time. The program is also full Spanish immersion. I really couldn't have chosen a better place for my son to be.
