Starry Family Childcare is hands down the best family daycare in the City!! My son attended Starry from the time he was 10 months old until he was 2 years and 9 months, and I truly can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience. May and Suzanne are incredibly warm, kindhearted, loving, and thoughtful. I trusted them completely with my baby and toddler. It genuinely felt like having family take care of him. They love the children as if they were their own, and our son was always so happy to go there. One of the things that makes Starry especially exceptional is how supportive and understanding May and Suzanne are of working parents. They always do their best to accommodate families and are incredibly flexible with drop-off and pick-up. They will come downstairs to meet you and pick up your child so you don’t have to worry about parking. They also offer drop-in care during most holidays, as well as weekend and even overnight care if parents need a little getaway. I can’t count how many times their flexibility has been a lifesaver for us as two busy working parents. The level of convenience and support they provide is truly unmatched compared with other daycares and preschools we’ve experienced. The kids also have so many wonderful experiences during the day. May and Suzanne take them to different parks, the library for story time and activities, and on little adventures to iconic places around the neighborhood and the city. They do lots of arts and crafts, celebrate every child’s birthday with so much care, and always prepare sweet little projects and surprises for special holidays. May and Suzanne are fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese, so the children are naturally exposed to and learn a lot of Chinese through the immersion environment. This was such a wonderful bonus for our family. They also prepare all of the children’s delicious and nutritious meals themselves and send parents detailed updates and lots of great photos every day. Communication is excellent, and they genuinely partner with parents to support your goals at home. For example, they worked with us to help our son transition away from both his pacifier and milk bottles, which made the process so much easier. Most importantly, you can tell how deeply May and Suzanne care about every child. They loved and cared for our son like he was their own, and I will always be incredibly grateful for the warmth, attention, and love they gave him during such an important stage of his life. We feel so lucky to have found Starry and would recommend them wholeheartedly!!

We actually stumbled across Starry Family Child Care by chance—while other parents were picking up their children. We inquired, set up a site visit, and honestly, it’s been positive ever since day one. As first-time parents during the pandemic, it was tough finding a daycare that felt clean, safe, and spacious, but Starry checked all the boxes. Both of our boys ended up attending, and we couldn’t be happier with the care they received. Suzanne and May are patient, nurturing, and truly dedicated to the kids. Our boys always felt safe and happy there - they were excited to go each day, and it was clear how much they enjoyed their time. We also appreciated the bilingual environment - they started off learning Cantonese and later switched to Mandarin once we determined their preschool path. It was such a joy hearing them sing and use both languages at home. Plus, the fresh, home-cooked meals every day were a huge help for us as busy parents. Communication was excellent - we received regular updates with messages, photos, and progress reports. We always felt informed and connected. We’re so grateful we found Starry - it’s been such a wonderful, safe, and caring place for our family. We’d highly recommend it to any parent looking for a dependable, loving daycare!

I can't say enough amazing things about this place! Our older child was there from 13 months (after not passing the "trial period" in an in-home daycare in Pac Heights) until she went to Little Bee's preschool at 3 yo and our younger one has been there since she was 10 months old. Mei Mei and Tammy are amazing caretakers who made both of children feel at ease instantly - my younger one never cried a day at dropoff! They care for the children as if they are family and very attentive and caring. They have regular outings and share lots of photos. It's also a hard place to beat in terms of hours, food (all 3 meals!) and few days off (they work too hard). I'll be sad for my younger one to graduate to preschool - it's been amazing having both of our children there.

Our son went to Starry since he was 10 months old until he aged out at age 3. Suzanne, Mei Mei Tammy and Po Po are the most kind, caring, loving, patient and thoughtful people you will meet. I can't say enough nice things about them. It's always hard to leave your child in the care of someone else, but we were always confident that he was being well cared for at Starry. Apart from providing exceptional care, they do a great job of focusing on development as well for the children. They also do a great job in keeping you informed on how your kid's day is going, by sending you pictures and text messages if there are any concerns or issues. My child is extremely energetic, and we were so happy to learn that he would be going to the park almost every day. He is also an extremely picky eater, but they were always able to keep him well fed. Our child has been now in a new school for two weeks and every morning he asks if I am taking him to Suzanne's... needless to say he loved it at Starry.

Mei, Tammy and Suzanne are wonderful! When we were looking at daycares for our first child, Starry Family was so welcoming that our daughter felt comfortable and didn’t want to leave. We felt they were a great fit for our family and our daughter ended up loving it there! She loved playing with her friends, going to the park, and she even learned some Mandarin Chinese. When our daughter left for Preschool, we enrolled our son. He also loves it there! They showed a lot of care, kindness, and encouragement for our children. They gave us daily updates and pictures about nap time, potty, diet, and activities. We love that they provided breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. They also gave us the option to watch our children on weekends, evenings or when our daughter is out on break from Preschool during the week. We highly recommend them!

Before the pandemic, childcare was in short supply and the one we had lined up from our first child pulled the rug from under us. On a desperate whim, we contacted Starry Family for a tour – this ended up being one of the best decisions we've made for our children. Starry Family has now looked after our two children for almost three years and we couldn't possibly be happier with the care we've received. Our oldest attended Starry Family from 12 months through around 36 months, and our youngest attended from around 4 months through one year. Here's where we feel Suzanne and Mei really stand apart in their care: - Patience and gentleness: Mei and Suzanne's interaction with the children is genuinely caring and patient. We've perceived this not only during pick-up and drop-off, but in the depictions that our oldest child gave of his time spent at daycare – there was never a time our kids have been hesitant or uneager to be dropped-off - Curriculum: instruction is in English and Mandarin (and Cantonese, by request) – we love that our kids came back singing songs and reciting phrases in multiple languages; the daycare has recently expanded so there's a dedicated nursery for the babies and a daycare for the older kids - Nutrition: meals are very well balanced and include fruits, vegetables, and home cooked dishes. Foods like mandarin oranges and avocados – which we haven't seen at other daycares – are frequently on the menu - Comprehensive communication: text updates come regularly, along with photos of activities. Any notable items (e.g., deviations in sleep schedule, changes in schedule, etc.) are proactively communicated. Communications made via text are particularly effective since they employ Google Translate to overcome any language barriers - Thorough accountability: each child's schedule is meticulously documented in writing and sent home at the end of each day. Mei and Suzanne will take the time to also walk through any topics upon pick-up so virtually nothing goes unnoticed - The kids love it!: the most important of all – we've tried other childcare with our oldest, but when we saw how perpetually happy he was at Starry Family (e.g., excited to go in the morning, tired, happy, and replete with stories when coming home), we knew we had found our place. This continued on with our youngest who equally loved her time with Mei and Suzanne. I cannot speak more highly of our experience with Starry Family. Notably, after our oldest aged into pre-school, we ended up moving across to the other side of the city from Starry Family. But later, once our youngest required childcare, we were more than willing to make the trek across SF to ensure that she was in trusted hands with Mei and Suzanne (we've since moved her to a closer day care, but if logistics weren't an issue, she'd still be at Starry Family). We recommend Starry Family to everyone we know, and those families who have ended up there have similarly loved it. If your family is in the market for a daycare, I would highly recommend giving Suzanne and Mei a call – we're endlessly happy we did.

Shumei and Suzanne are amazing! Our daughter has been enrolled full-time since June 2020, when she was just 5 months old. Our experience has been wonderful. They have been very accommodating and were especially attentive when our daughter had reflux issues in the early days. We trust their judgement as they have shown us time and again how thoughtful and caring they are with the kids. Our daughter loves going to daycare and playing with her friends - she's all smiles every morning she arrives at daycare, and is often sad when she has to leave! Update March 2025: Our oldest daughter has long since graduated from Starry Family, and now her baby sister has been attending since 6 months old. Today, there are quite a few younger siblings of the 2021-2022 cohort attending, which is so fun to see and speaks volumes to how much we all love Starry Family!

The best daycare! We visited a few daycares in the neighborhood and they all looked fine and gave us a nice tour. But Starry Family was the only one to immediately play with my 6 month old daughter and show us that they cared about her most of all. Our kid fell in love with them immediately and has enjoyed going since day one. They are so kind, professional, and caring. As first time parents, leaving our kid with strangers felt impossible. But we couldn't imagine a better place for her and we are so grateful for the love and education they provide each day.
