For my family, there are three concerns when it comes to child care: security, curriculum, and the "feel" of the environment when you walk in. In the three years that I have utilized KinderCare, I have witnessed several occasions in which staff would question the identity of someone picking up a child. What has impressed me the most is the awkward situation that it creates, and the ability of the staff to handle the situation in a calm and professional manner. As a single working mother, the curriculum my child receives while I am away is important to prepare him for school. Each child is assessed on skills by age level, and a full discussion with the teacher takes place explaining how the assessments were administered. For my Pre-K age child, I appreciated the detail of the discussion, in which I learned which numbers or letters my child was able to identify, and which he had trouble with. The assessment and discussion with my child's teacher allowed me to feel confident that I was focused on the correct curriculum review at home. It is very important to have a child care facility in which you feel your child is cared for, loved, and the family is treated with respect and kindness. The cheerful disposition of teachers at the end of the day makes you feel that your child is with people who enjoy child care. When I leave my child to go to work, I know that he is going to have fun, learn new things, and enjoy time with his friends. I love knowing that my child is spending time in a positive environment.
