Elementary School
Grade 1—5
Legacy Traditional School’s elementary curriculum provides a well-rounded education emphasizing key academic and developmental areas. The language arts program follows the Spalding Method with The Writing Road to Reading, integrating listening, speaking, spelling, writing, and reading to foster skilled readers, writers, and critical communicators. Core components include composition, oral communication, literature, spelling, and vocabulary. In science, students explore concepts through investigations, lab equipment, readings, and interactive technology, promoting logical thinking. Math is taught with enVision Math, which builds deep understanding through progressive lessons and real-world applications, aligned with state standards and accessible from home via Schoology integration. Social studies covers world, U.S., and Arizona history, along with geography and civic responsibilities. Art classes expose students to art history, vocabulary, and a range of media, fostering creative expression through the Art Masterpiece program, which deepens their understanding of artistic techniques and historical significance. English Language Learners receive daily instruction per Arizona’s SEI model, and computer classes teach fundamental tech skills, keyboarding, and cyber-safety. Legacy is internationally accredited by Cognia, which assures high educational standards through rigorous evaluations.
