Center Director

Job Description

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, as determined by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
• Have at least 2 years of experience as a child care teacher or center director in a group child care center or other approved setting.
• Have completed, before beginning work, one of the preservice training options in DCF Table 251.05B — for example:
– an associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, education, or child development (no additional training required); or
– 8 credits in early childhood education, or a combination of 4 credit / non-credit department-approved ECE courses; or
– the Registry Program Development Credential or Infant/Toddler Credential, or a Registry certificate showing preliminary qualification as a director for a 51+ center; or
– a qualifying Wisconsin DPI (or other state) pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, or early childhood teaching license.
• For options other than a qualifying degree or teaching license, complete the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential within 1 year of assuming the position.
