Parent Reviews
Little Angels is one of the few Japanese preschools in the city, and one of the only ones that accepts children who aren't yet potty trained. Hirai-sensei and Ojisan bring about 40 years of childcare experience between Japan and San Francisco, and it shows. Don't be misled by the modest appearance. They introduce school gradually and thoughtfully, easing children into the routine at a pace that works. They are true professionals who follow Japanese standards of childcare. My children are half-Japanese, and we want them to become fluent. Classes are taught mainly in Japanese, with English mixed into the day, and the kids pick up the language naturally. Beyond language, the school teaches structure, manners, and independence that prepare toddlers and preschoolers for TK and kindergarten. It's a small school, so the kids form close bonds with each other and with the teachers. The days are full of arts and crafts, songs, and music. The school also celebrates the seasons the Japanese way: mochi and spinning tops at New Year, beans at Setsubun, hina dolls for Hinamatsuri, kabuto for Children's Day, and wishes on bamboo for Tanabata. American holidays get celebrated too, like the 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The teachers treat the children like their own, and it truly feels like a second family. Another HUGE advantage is the tuition. It's very affordable for full-time care, which is rare in San Francisco these days. My kids will stay at Little Angels until kindergarten. Thank you, Hirai-sensei and Ojisan, for your expertise and hard work!
Little Angels Japanese Preschool provides such a warm, nurturing, and joyful environment for young children. The teachers are incredibly kind, patient, and dedicated, making every child feel safe and loved from day one. Their Japanese immersion program strikes the perfect balance between engaging cultural activities, structured learning, and creative play. My son is very happy to go there everyday. We couldn't recommend Little Angels more highly!
