We started sending our first born to Rising Star Daycare in 2021 when he was 8 months old. He stayed there until he aged out in 2024. When he first started, drop offs were hard because of the transition. However, in a short amount of time, Carol and her daughter, Althea, became adults he trusted and looked forward to seeing daily. During his time there, he learned to speak Mandarin fluently through daily conversation and songs. He spent time outdoors at playgrounds, parks, and on walks. He developed both his gross motor skills and fine motor skills through activities that Carol and Althea thoughtfully prepared. Rising Star has a partnership with an organization that provides books and materials/suggestions for how families can engage in and enrich their children’s literary skills at home which has been helpful. Carol is creative and crafty, providing seasonal crafts for the children to engage in. She is gentle and patient, modeling respect and kindness for the children. She’s detailed when she gives me updates about my child’s growth, areas of improvement, and daily experiences. The food she provides is both delicious and nutritious. My son no longer attends Rising Star, but he still talks about his favorite dish that Carol made him. Her home is always clean and tidy, rotating toys and activities for children to play with. It’s hard to find quality care and people you trust to look after your children, but we love Rising Star so much that our second child is there now! Our daughter is always smiling when she is dropped off in the morning and is always blowing kisses and hugging Carol and Althea good-bye during pick up.

We highly recommend Carol and Rising Star. Our son really enjoyed his time there and developed so much. We were very impressed with everything she did. We really struggled to get our son to nap and somehow Carol was able to completely turn that around along with his feeding. When we asked if she could accommodate a certain sleep schedule, she had no problem implementing it. We would get pictures showing our son being engaged and challenged in safe ways that were completely new to us and so fun to see. We could not have picked a better environment for our son during this time. Carol was more cautious and careful in dealing with the threat of COVID than anyone else we knew and always took strict precautions that we really appreciated.
